Are we at war with our bodies?
Is it the commonly held belief, that we are in a struggle with nature for survival, which led to the acceptance of Germ Theory? In scientific jargon, a theory is the interpretation of observations based on experimentation, it is not proof of a phenomenon. So in the late 1800’s when Pasteur looked through his microscope at diseased tissue and observed the presence of bacteria, he assumed that these bacteria were present to attack and invade us, infecting healthy tissue and causing disease. This conclusion by Pasteur and others at the time gave rise to the Germ Theory which is widely accepted, even to the present time. Germ Theory states that many diseases are caused by microorganisms, namely many different types of bacteria, viruses (that were discovered later and now their very existence is under question by some), and fungi, each causing a specific disease. For more than a century, all the scientific advances in Western (allopathic) medicine have been interpreted through the lens of Germ Theory, but could this interpretation be wrong? Is it possible the powers that be, including the allopathic medical establishment, want people to be frightened of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms?
With a different type of consciousness, namely that we are naturally in harmony with nature, would there have been a different interpretation of what was observed. As we gain more knowledge, will it change the perspective of mainstream and alternative medicine or is Germ Theory here to stay?
